Dear Monroe County Residents:
Welcome to the Jill LaVoy for Probate Judge web site. My Name is Jill LaVoy and I am running for Monroe County Probate Judge. I was born and raised in Monroe Michigan and I have spent my life here. Monroe is my home.
I have been very invested in Monroe County my entire life. I live here. I own property here and I pay taxes here which contribute to our infrastructure and schools. I believe that it is important to live in the community when you are asking people to vote you into an elected position such as Probate Court Judge.
For the past 18 years I have been advocating for my clients. My practice is a general practice with a focus on family law. I have handled countless cases involving custody, parenting time, trusts, estates, abused and neglected children and adoptions. My clients have ranged in age from newborns to senior citizens. While I enjoy all aspects of the law, helping children and the elderly is my passion I believe strongly in giving back to the community and helping those in need. The focus of probate court is helping those that need the most protection- children and the elderly. Children need help when they are in situations of abuse and neglect or when they have chosen a path of that may involve drugs, alcohol or theft. The elderly often need assistance to ensure that their assets are protected to provide for them in their golden years and for their heirs after they are gone.
Probate Court is the court that handles the same cases that have been the primary focus of my practice for the last 18 years. That is, it handles estates, wills and trusts, mental health hearings, guardianships, conservatorships, divorce, custody, parenting time, paternity, support adoption, delinquency and child protection proceedings. I have been serving my individual clients for 18 years. Now I am ready to take the next step and serve my community as a Judge in Monroe County.
I would invite you to view my other pages and the links on this page. I hope they will provide you with additional information about me and my dedication and commitment to this community and its citizens. I would be honored to have your vote. I am asking you to keep my experience and qualifications in mind when you vote for me in the general election on November 6, 2012. Your vote counts!
Thank you,
